Domestic Violence in San Diego County

In 2014, there were 16,897 domestic violence incidents reported to law enforcement in San Diego County, a two-percent increase from the prior year.

In a sample study of 100 DV incidents reported to law enforcement, children were present in 37% of the cases.

Findings from in-depth case reviews of DV fatalities revealed that 34% of the offenders had a history of methamphetamine use and 25% had been using prior to the homicide.

While over 5,700 victims are served by local DV programs on a given day in California, over 1,200 service requests go unmet due to reduced funding for these programs.
